The Plot Thickens on Fox-Paul Story: Has Fox News Excluded Ron Paul? pt. 2

On December 27, the Associated Press reported"The New Hampshire Republican Party is sponsoring a forum for Republican presidential candidates on Jan. 6, two days before the state's first-in-the-nation primary."  Later in the article, the AP stated:  "Participating in the forum will be Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, John McCain, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson."

On the evening of December 28, Jared Chicoine and Jordan Brown of our New Hampshire campaign staff met in person with Fergus Cullen the New Hampshire GOP chairman to discuss whether or not Dr. Paul would be invited to participate in the forum.  Mr. Cullen confirmed there will be an event on January 6, but he could not confirm whether or not Dr. Paul would be invited. We also learned the event would not be a debate with an audience, but instead would be a forum in a closed studio with the candidates questioned only by Chris Wallace of Fox News.

A few hours after that meeting, we contacted Fox News seeking clarification.  Later that night, we issued a press release while waiting to hear from Fox News.

On December 29, the Baltimore Sun featured a report by Jason George. Mr. George reported, "Calls and emails to Fox News spokespersons by the Tribune were not returned Saturday evening.

"An official at the New Hampshire GOP, which is co-sponsoring the event with Fox, said that Paul might still be included, but the planning for the debate was still coming together and it was ultimately Fox's call."

As of late afternoon today (December 30), we have nothing more to report.

Kent Snyder
Chairman, Ron Paul 2008

LC Edtor’s Comment:  Apparently WorldNetDaily.com also had the facts wrong early Sunday afternoon (Dec. 30) when they reported the debate had been canceled several weeks ago and that Mr. Paul had not seen the memo canceling the event and so was “steamed” over Fox’s excluding him from the debate.  It’s evident that Mr. Snyder added to the confusion in this matter in his press release, which states that Mr. Paul had been excluded from the debate, when in fact Mr. Cullen had told him that he could not confirm whether or or not Dr. Paul would be invited.

Bhutto Broke her Agreement with the CIA

According to the manar newspaper the CIA in coordination with Musharraf’s ISI [International Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan] are behind the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. Musharraf briefed the Americans that Bhutto contacted the Islamic movement in Pakistan to reach an agreement for reconciliation leading to future stability of the country and breaking Pakistan link with American war-on -terror. This explanation seems logical, few days ago two British diplomats were expelled from Afghanistan for conducting talks with the Taliban [check out this link also, very funny and true said about the Americans: The Americans have a way of painting this black and white,……For them it’s like a cowboy film - you’re either a good guy or a bad guy.]

Scheherazade in the White House: How George Bush’s Wartime Administration used a Magician, Hollywood Designers and Karl Rove telling 1,001 Stories to Sell the Invasion of Iraq – Christian Salmon

A few days before the 2004 presidential election, Ron Suskind, a columnist who had been investigating the White House and its communications for years, wrote in The New York Times about a conversation he had with a presidential adviser in 2002. “The aide said that guys like me were ‘in what we call the reality-based community’, which he defined as people ‘who believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality’. I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. ‘That’s not the way the world really works anymore,’ he continued. ‘We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality – judiciously, as you will – we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors.. and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do’ ” (1).  (By Christian Salmon, in La Mode diplomatique, January 2008).  Full article=>

Mitt Romney's Pursuit of Tyrannical Power, Literally -- Glenn Greenwald

In yet another superb piece of journalism, the peerless Charlie Savage of The Boston Globe submitted to the leading presidential candidates a questionnaire asking their views on 12 key questions regarding executive power… All of the leading Democrats -- Edwards, Dodd, Biden, Clinton, Richardson and Obama -- submitted responses, as did Mitt Romney, John McCain and Ron Paul… But by far the most extraordinary answers come from Mitt Romney. Romney's responses -- not to some of the questions but to every single one of them -- are beyond disturbing. The powers he claims the President possesses are definitively -- literally -- tyrannical, unrecognizable in the pre-2001 American system of government and, in some meaningful ways, even beyond what the Bush/Cheney cadre of authoritarian legal theorists have claimed.  (Glenn Greenwald, Salon.com, December 23, 2007)  Full article=>

Excerpt: They Thought They were Free: The Germans, 1933-1945 – By Milton Mayer

"What no one seemed to notice," said a colleague of mine, a philologist, "was the ever widening gap, after 1933, between the government and the people. Just think how very wide this gap was to begin with, here in Germany. And it became always wider. You know, it doesn’t make people close to their government to be told that this is a people’s government, a true democracy, or to be enrolled in civilian defense, or even to vote. All this has little, really nothing, to do with knowing one is governing.

"What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, little by little, to being governed by surprise; to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if the people could not understand it, it could not be released because of national security. And their sense of identification with Hitler, their trust in him, made it easier to widen this gap and reassured those who would otherwise have worried about it. Full article=>

An Example of Why it is Vital to Confirm News at the Source before Publishing: Ron Paul Excluded from Debate? Not Exactly --- Candidate Claims Fox is Afraid of him, but Forum Canceled  New

Ron Paul is steamed about being excluded from a New Hampshire debate scheduled to be televised by Fox News. "They are scared of me and don't want my message to get out, but it will," Paul said of Fox News Network. "They are propagandists for this war and I challenge them on the notion that they are conservative."

The challenge got some attention on a slow Internet news day yesterday, with many websites still carrying the story. However, not all is what it appears. There is no debate.  No one is invited.  It was canceled.  Somehow, Ron Paul missed the memo.  There is no New Hampshire GOP presidential debate scheduled for Jan. 6. The event was officially canceled three weeks ago. Ron Paul was, indeed, invited, but never committed to attending before the event was canceled because of the close proximity with the ABC event.  (World Net Daily, Sunday, December 30, 2007).  Full article=>

LC Editor’s Comment:  With fresh, wet egg on my face, I apologize for my possibly riling up LC readers without first going to the principals involved in the Fox story, that is, Ron Paul and even Fox itself, and checking out the story with them before passing on Anthony Wade’s article to you with my comments.  However, I still stand by suggestions 2 and 3 contained in my LC Editor’s comments following the now erroneous) Fox News Fascism story (below).

Fox News Fascism – Ron Paul Excluded From Debates by Rupert Murdock

Fox News has made its bones off of being a fake news agency. Everyone knows it. While it worked for several years the shine has begun to diminish and the people are waking up to the real damage it can do to mainstream media. Granted, most mainstream media is really no better than Fox News, as they are all corporately controlled by companies that are in bed with the war machine. MSNBC is learning the lessons now as such obviously biased hosts such as Joe Scarborough and Tucker Carlson have failed miserably next to the more honest Keith Olbermann. America is slowly coming around to the notion that news should actually be fundamentally fair. Fox of course has been notoriously unfair and imbalanced for years now. Thus it should come as no surprise that Fox News has decided to once again try to subvert the democratic process by excluding Dr. Ron Paul from their upcoming GOP debate in New Hampshire. (By Anthony Wade, in OpEdNews.com, December 29, 2007). Full article  =>

LC Editor’s Comments: So Rupert Murdock, rather than serve the needs of the American viewing and listening public, which is to be able to witness a live, open, honest debate between all major contenders for the nomination of the Republican candidate for the office of president in the elections scheduled for November 2008, has chosen to obey the orders of his handlers: Exclude Rep. Ron Paul from the debates in New Hampshire.

The reason for this move on the part of the leaders of the War Party, whose members include all of the major contenders for the U.S. presidency from both parties with the exception of Ron Paul, is that the Texas representative’s message of hope for the restoration the U.S. republic, a return to honesty in government and adherence to the rule of law based on the U.S. Constitution, and establishment of sound money policy constitutes a threat to their agenda, which is that of creating and sustaining wars for profit and making the American people pay for those wars in blood and dollars.

Dr. Paul’s simple message has continued to resonate with the needs of the American people, who have demonstrated their enthusiastic support of his message and his drive for the White House by contributing record dollar levels of campaign support money, the establishing and maintaining of a high level of focused, aggressive activity a grass root campaign organization, and causing him to win countless straw polls conducted throughout the U.S. over the past six months.  Furthermore, in past television debates, Dr. Paul has given his advesaries a run for their money, often trouncing them but always setting the record straight, while all the time maintaining his professionalism and remaining calm under pressure.

Ron Paul’s candidacy constitutes a terrible threat to the agenda of the War Party. You better believe it.  So he had to be excluded from the New Hampshire debates.  Murdock was the person chosen to do the job.

This is no time for outpourings of anger and tears.  Instead, it is time for effective action now by the Paul team.  What are we the supporters of Ron Paul’s drive for the White House to do to cause Murdock to back down or if that does not work compensate for Ron Paul’s presence during the debates?

I have three suggestions to offer.

(1)   Call into all talk shows, tell the story on air -- Fox News Fascism: Ron Paul Excluded from Debates --- and ask each host's listeners to call into FOX telecasts and demand that Rupert Murdock include Ron Paul in FOX's coverage of the debates.  Be persistent but friendly, using humor wherever possible to get the job done.  Calls into C-Span on air should bear fruit.

(2)   Double the number of contacts you make each day to promote Ron Paul's campaign to your friends and direct them at the very least to the Ron Paul 2008 website or better yet to to the www.libertycalling.com site and/or www.amd.elequity.com , where you and they will find links to all the information they will every needs to convince them that all the other candidates on both sides of the aisle want more government spending and wars without end. Then each day make one additional contact.  If you have not made any contacts so far, start with one per day.

(3)   Get connected locally with a Ron Paul Meet-up Group.  Find out where and when your local Meet-up groups assemble and then attend at least one meeting and then perhaps even join.  To find a local Meet-up Group go to http://ronpaul.meetup.com .  Join and take guidance from the group you join on what to do next.

Good luck.  See you at the top with Ron Paul.

Bush Rejects Another Iraq War Spending Law: Says Law would Impair Funding of Iraq Reconstruction

LC Editor’s Comments:  The spending bill as passed by Congress was structured this way intentionally, knowing that the president would refused to sign it into law, and for good reason:  There is more than adequate documentation to prove that billions of dollars in funding authorized by Congress in the past to support the reconstruction of Iraq were simply stolen, wasted or misused.  Examples:  Billions Wasted in Iraq -- U.S. Official says Oversight was Non-Existent; Money for Nothing: Billions of Dollars have Disappeared, Gone to Bribe Iraqis and Line Contractors’ Pockets; U.S. Audit Finds Spectacular Waste of Funds in Iraq -- Millions Lost in 'Chaotic Misuse,' While Report Says many Reconstruction Projects won't be Finished.

Now Mr. Bush is asking Congress to authorize additional funds to be thrown down the Iraq rat hole, more properly called a cash cow for the president’s business friends and allies.  So the men and women on Capitol Hill have wisely chosen to call it quits in participating in this massive game of fraud and misuse of the American taxpayers money.

The Constitution provides only two ways to stop a president: impeach him and remove him from office or cut off his funding, and it apparently has chosen to do the latter, for the moment at least.

But isn’t it time now for Congress to bite the bullet: To impeach both Bush and his handler, Dick Cheney, and have the U.S. Marine Corp remove them from office and put them on a slow boat to Paraguay, where the Bush’s purchased thousands of acres of land last year, apparently to serve as their secure enclave whenever the American people finally wised-up?  Interestingly enough, Paraguay has no criminal extradition laws.

LC Editor’s Question to Readers:  Can we Americans afford to have Bush and Cheney remain in office for yet another year destroying our economy and bleeding us financially dry in the name of fighting an illegally initiated war, supporting the use of extra rendition and torture for detainee interrogations, thereby making a mockery of America’s claim to be “the land of the free and home of the brave”, and condoning if not actively supporting criminal activity on the part of government officials?

See  Call for Cheney Impeachment Hearings and sign the petition supporting impeachment hearings provide at the site.  We need to take swift, decisive action now against the criminal cabal that took over the White House following the coup of November 2000.
